2002 NY40
Discovered by LINEAR on images taken 2002 July 14th and
approaching the Earth almost head on, these images show the object
brightening during July and August before speeding past on the morning
of 2002 Aug 18. In the last image it was moving at 247 arcsec per minute.
All images 30 sec exposures and to same scale. Note how
the asteroid has accelerated in the 2.6 hours between the last two
frames (from 172 arcsec per minute movement to 247 arcsec per minute in
the last frame)
